Strike is the stoppage of work by employees against any regulations
imposed on them by the management or stoppage of work to get their
demands fulfilled. Earlier it was used by industrial workers as an
effective weapon against their exploitation and tyranny by their
masters but now even the highly paid white collar workers are
resorting ton this legal system of arm-twisting to get their
exaggerated demands met. Strikes re the culmination of freedom of
expression in a democratic country which follows the capitalistic
system of production. This is not possible in communist countries,
where such freedom of expression could be termed as treason. The
background of its origin must be traced to the Industrial Revolution i
Europe when the wages in European countries fell to an time low,
leading to misery for the workers. Initially it was banned even in
England as the mine owners and mill owners were extremely powerful and
the government was in their grips.
